Most people agree that cosmetic surgery is more synonymous with women than with men, but the fairly recent trend of male plastic surgery procedures may disrupt that preconceived notion. Seventeen percent of men (according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) look at plastic and cosmetic surgery more favorably than they did 5 years ago – an indication that men are beginning to close the gender gap in the plastic surgery industry.
There is no question that there has been a decline in the number of plastic surgery procedures in recent years, due to the economy-dependent nature of the industry.
