Atlanta plastic surgeon Dr. John LeRoy has performed thousands of cosmetic surgeries over his industrious, nearly 20 year career.  While not even 20 years old, pop-star Justin Beiber has amassed over 5 million followers on Twitter.  What do the two have in common you might ask:  a captive audience.

Dr. LeRoy, who joined Twitter a couple of years ago, has already attracted the interest of over 50,000 “followers.”  Unlike Beiber who uses the site to keep the 11,000 new followers he gets daily in-the-loop with his concert schedule and going’s on, Dr. LeRoy uses Twitter’s instantaneous, wide reach to share plastic surgery and health related news .

When asked about his reasons for using the site, Dr. LeRoy states:  “Despite the parodies you hear, Twitter is not just gossip.  Because Twitterers are so “plugged in”, they have constant access to infinite amounts of information (not all of it exactly true.)  If I can contribute factual, useful information about plastic surgery I feel it helps empower patients to make good choices and take control of their health.”

While LeRoy liveliness isn’t yet as wide-spread as “Beiber fever”, Dr. LeRoy continues to share information on his cosmetic procedures:  face lift, Band Aid Facelift, Band Aid Blepharoplasty, tummy tucks (abdominoplasty), and others on Twitter, his website, and his blog.

Popularity of Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers Expand for Facial Rejuvenation

“Hyaluronic acid” is the magic phrase on the lips of medical marketers recently.  A natural component of collagen, the matrices of fibers that give youthful skin its perk, hyaluronic acid has been isolated as one of the key weapons in fighting the effects of facial aging.  The hyaluronic acid-based facial fillers Restylane® and Perlane® have already amassed quite a following for their ability to temporarily fill the deep wrinkles around the nose (nasal labial folds) and mouth (oral commissures or marionette lines) of facial rejuvenation patients.

According to information published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the newer versions of the aforementioned dermal fillers offer expanded benefits to patients as technology improves.  Manufactured using Hylacross™ technology, the newer gel versions of Restylane® and Perlane® boast improved consistency and longevity of the products.  Original version of the dermal fillers were created using a process called “sieving” which forced the material through a rough filter of sorts during production, and often left some textural inconsistencies that increased instances of a bumpy appearance after injection.
