Meet Atlanta, Georgia Plastic Surgeon John LeRoy, MD

Cosmetic Surgery versus Maintenance Procedures

Posted on February 24, 2009 9:00AM in Dr. LeRoy's Blog

Psychologists say some people just don’t want the risk of undergoing anesthesia, particularly with a cosmetic procedure.  Although extremely rare, many patients feel that if something were to go wrong they could not live with themselves.

For this reason, as well as others of an economic nature, there are quite a few procedures that can be performed in the office with only a local numbing.  These maintenance procedures can be performed on several areas of the face and body.

Most people are familiar with a few of the most common maintenance procedures such as Botox®, Restylane®, Juvederm™ and Perlane, etc.  These are facial filler products used to remove wrinkles or enhance certain areas of the face such as the lips.  Procedures which can be performed in the office that you may not be familiar with are liposuction (to remove smaller volumes of fat on the “love handles,” facial jowling or a “double chin”), mini-blepharoplasty (eye lift), as well as, mini-facelift (such as the Band Aid Facelift).

Although these maintenance procedures are not appropriate for everyone, they are yet another option for people seeking cost effective ways to improve their appearance.  Call our office today to schedule your consultation and we’ll discuss your options.
