Available at our state-of-the-art facilities in Atlanta, Georgia, facial plastic surgery, including eyelid surgery, ear surgery, facial implants, rhinoplasty, and face lift and "Band-Aid" face lift surgery, can help patients of all ages achieve more aesthetically balanced appearances. Whether you are interested in enhancing small, under-defined features or in decreasing the obtrusiveness of prominent features, undergoing facial plastic surgery at the practice of Dr. John LeRoy is an excellent option.
The eyes are usually among the first areas of the face to exhibit obvious signs of aging, which is why eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is one of the most common facial procedures performed at our Atlanta, Georgia practice. Eyelid surgery is a type of facial plastic surgery that targets pockets of excess fat and sagging skin that can appear on the upper and lower eyelids. By removing these pockets, Dr. John LeRoy helps his patients appear more alert and refreshed without any obvious signs of surgery. Scarring is generally very minimal, and although the skin does continue to age after surgery, the results are usually permanent.
Performed as an outpatient procedure at our Atlanta office, eyelid surgery takes about three hours to complete. Dr. LeRoy will make a small incision at the lash line, at the lower eyelid, or at both and remove fatty tissue and excess skin using very thin forceps. Once the tissue has been removed and the skin tightened, Dr. LeRoy will close the incision using dissolving sutures. After surgery, patients should get plenty of rest and refrain from physically demanding activities. Most patients are able to return to work within 10 days of eyelid surgery. Within four weeks, most of the swelling and bruising will have disappeared.
Patients who choose eyelid surgery often keep their faces looking fresh using laser resurfacing to lighten dark circles and BOTOX® injections to soften prominent creases between the eyes and eyebrows.
Ear surgery, or otoplasty, is an effective way to reduce the prominence of large or forward-facing ears by setting them closer to the head. Also known as “ear pinning,” otoplasty can greatly enhance a person’s appearance by drawing attention away from large or obtrusive ears and creating facial symmetry. Most otoplasty patients are children between the ages of four and fourteen who can benefit from the confidence that facial plastic surgery allows. Adults, too, who suffer from larger or protruding ears can benefit from ear surgery.
If you think that you or your child may be a good candidate for otoplasty, please schedule a free consultation with Dr. John LeRoy at our office in Atlanta, Georgia. Facial plastic surgery can be an excellent means of enhancing the self-confidence of children and adults alike.
Facial implants of the chin, cheeks, or jaw can help patients enhance their facial contours and achieve greater facial symmetry. Chin implants are used primarily for patients who have small, weak, or recessive chins. Conversely, patients with overly prominent chins or jaws may benefit from reductive facial plastic surgery.
Patients with weak or undefined cheek bones can also benefit from facial implants, which can bring balance to a small or narrow face. Cheek and chin surgery are among the most simple types of facial plastic surgery and are relatively inexpensive compared to other procedures.
