Restylane® is a clear, biodegradable gel derived from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Originally developed in Sweden and now available at our office in Atlanta, Restylane® is an injectable facial rejuvenation treatment used worldwide to smooth out facial wrinkles.
When a small amount of Restylane® is injected into the skin, it attaches to the water molecules that are already present in the body. As a result, the tissue underneath the skin begins to swell, effectively filling in the wrinkles in the skin’s outer layers. As Restylane® draws in more water, the skin will continue to appear fuller and smoother. On average, results of Restylane® treatment last about six months, slightly longer than BOTOX® injections
Restylane® is different from other dermal fillers for several reasons. First, it is an all-natural substance that already occurs in the body. Also, unlike other dermal fillers, it is not derived from animal products, so there is very little chance of the body rejecting Restylane® or experiencing an allergic reaction. Although Restylane® has an excellent safety record, Dr. John LeRoy will be sure to evaluate your medical history to avoid any adverse side effects.
Radiesse® is a cosmetic filler that aids in facial rejuvenation, especially around the nose and mouth. Radiesse® is a gel-like solution that contains microspheres comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a substance already found naturally in the body. After three months, Radiesse® begins to stimulate new collagen growth, which can make the skin appear plumper and reduce the prominence of fine lines and wrinkles for up to two years.
Like Restylane® and Radiesse®, Artefill® is an injectable dermal filler that can reduce the prominence of fine lines and wrinkles. Due to its unique composition, which consists of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres and bovine collagen, Artefill® is a nearly permanent wrinkle filler that offers long-lasting results.
Injectable collagen is a type of soft-tissue filler that helps fill in lines and creases, such as smile lines and crow’s feet, and that temporarily gives the skin a smoother, more supple appearance. Collagen can also be used to add fullness to the lips and cheeks.
Many patients who visit our Atlanta office prefer facial rejuvenation treatments such as Restylane® and collagen that do not require surgery; for this reason, collagen and other dermal fillers are extremely popular choices. Collagen, a structuring protein that helps support skin tissue, is injected just below the skin at several points in a given target area such as the lips or cheeks. You will be fully conscious during the procedure and will be able to dictate how much collagen is injected. The procedure usually takes less that an hour and does not require any recovery period.
Microdermabrasion is a facial rejuvenation treatment that can help reduce the prominence of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars and treat oily and clogged pores. Using abrasive “micro” crystals, this treatment lifts dead skin cells with focused suction on a small, round area of the skin. After the 20 to 40 minute treatment is complete, the entire face will have been treated and a new layer of skin will be visible. This treatment can be performed in a regular series, revealing fresh skin during each treatment, but the skin must be given time to heal between each appointment. The number of treatments you receive will depend on the severity of your skin damage.
