Many doctors take a weekend course to learn advanced techniques for plastic and cosmetic surgery. As a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, I too have taken these courses because our boards require us to stay up-to-date. However, taking a weekend course in liposuction or facial rejuvenation, regardless of what you are board certified in, does not make you capable of performing these procedures or any other new cosmetic surgery technique that may go along with them.
I perform plastic surgery of the face, breasts and body; but when I first began my plastic surgery career back in the early 90’s, I wanted to learn more advanced techniques in plastic surgery. In doing so I sought out the best hospital and plastic surgeons who offered their expertise in plastic surgery advancements. And for an additional year, after I earned my boards in both plastic and general surgery, I performed and completed a one year fellowship with internationally renowned surgeons at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. The Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital is world famous for advanced techniques in cosmetic plastic surgery.
Seeking out the best and taking the time to perfect my plastic surgery techniques early on has allowed me to bring my patients safe and extraordinary results for 17 years. During these 17 years, I have revised a lot of faces, breasts and bodies from physicians who chose to take a weekend course instead of completing the years of training necessary to perform these procedures accurately. As a patient you must do your homework on the surgeon you choose to perform your surgery to ensure the safe and extraordinary results you deserve.
