Our second social media contest of 2014 has come to a close! In late September, double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. LeRoy invited patients and Facebook fans to nominate their favorite charity for a chance to win a $1,000 donation. When the nominations were in, Dr. LeRoy and his staff picked four finalists and gave patients and the general public two weeks to vote for their favorite. While all of the nominees and finalists were excellent and very deserving causes, the voters have spoken. Congratulations to Alzheimer’s Association!
As part of his dedication to providing beautiful, natural-looking cosmetic results for all of his wonderful patients, Dr. LeRoy believes firmly in the importance of giving back generously to his community. He and his staff are pleased and grateful to have such charitable patients and supporters who appreciate the value and importance of supporting nonprofit work.
The mission of Alzheimer’s Association is threefold: “To eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.” Founded in 1980, Alzheimer’s Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with local chapters all over the United States.
Alzheimer’s is a devastating condition that affects millions of Americans. The disease has been rather grimly nicknamed “the long goodbye” for the steadily debilitating cognitive effect it has on sufferers. There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s, but with the passionate and devoted work of Alzheimer’s Association, every day brings us closer to a world without it.
Dr. LeRoy is proud to offer this charitable contribution to Alzheimer’s Association, which focuses its efforts on research, advocacy, and patient care. In addition to a 24-hour helpline for both patients and caregivers, the organization provides an enormous assortment of free online resources and supports the creation and maintenance of over 4,500 support groups nationwide. Alzheimer’s Association prides itself on fiscal responsibility and regularly exceeds the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance’s minimum standards for program spending; most recent available numbers show that the organization is 12 percentage points above the minimum.
We are grateful to all who took part in the contest! Future contests are in the works for 2015, so check back often for the chance to nominate and vote for your favorite nonprofit.
